Screen time can damage your eyes. Vision testing can help you prevent it.

It’s a simple as that, really. If you know an employee’s eyes are being affected by constant screen time, then you can take measures to prevent the damage becoming permanent, or getting even worse. A simple vision screening test, done on-site, will solve this problem!

Who needs a Vision Screening Test?

We recognise the recommendations in the National Occupational Health & Safety Commission Technical Report ‘Eyesight Testing of Users of Screen Based Equipment’ (SBE) [NOHSC : 10004 (1992)], which identifies the following categories of employees who should be sent for a vision screening test.

Over 25% of time on a screen

So if you work a regular eight hour day, that’s only two hours a day in front of a computer, or screen of any kind. Employees falling into this category should have a routine vision test.

Over 25% of time on a screen, and over 40 years of age

Same as above, but your eyesight naturally deteriorates as you get older, so these employees should be tested every two years.

Anyone with visual problems

Irrespective of age, anyone who has experienced issues in this regard should have a vision screening test every two years.

Anyone who needs good vision for work

If you rely on good vision for demanding or intensive operations that are critical for safety, then it’s highly recommended you have a regular eyesight test.

It’s just common sense – any employee whose vision is potentially impaired by the work they carry out should have a vision screening test when circumstances indicate it’s necessary.

Reporting & prevention

Afterwards we’ll produce a company overview of results and detailed individual vision reports are created for each employee. We’ll report every test an employee has had with us, and we’ll identify employees whose vision is showing any deterioration from normal reference ranges, with advice and actions that can be taken to prevent further deterioration. We’ll talk you through the report, making sure you understand everything and you know what to do next.

We’ll also follow up to let you know when the next appointments need to be arranged, according to an agreed-upon schedule of regular tests.

Why not combine the vision screening test with a hearing test while we’re there?
